The opening service of 2007 on the 7th is an original work presented by Louis W. Cable. Lou describes it as “an objective analysis of that hallowed Decalogue, The Ten Commandments. Although touted as the cornerstones of righteous living and the foundation of western civilization, the Ten Commandments are in reality a deeply flawed system. They are for the most part inimical to freedom as well as to the values of a free and wholesome society.” |

Welcoming Congregation Committees visit |
|
Members of the UU Fellowship of Longview and Shreveport’s All Souls UU Church will visit on January 28th. They will discuss their experiences in working toward the “Welcoming Congregation” designation. As of October 2006, 526 US and 24 Canadian UU congregations have earned this recognition by making a commitment to inclusiveness; accomplishing the action steps set forth in the areas of education, congregational life, and community outreach; and lastly an affirmative congregational vote to seek this honor. This program is overseen by the UUA’s Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Concerns, which was founded in 1973 to advocate for equal rights for all g/l/b/t. |
